Street Child is seeking a highly skilled Senior Protection Officer to lead the implementation of child protection and Gender Based Violence (GBV) interventions across project locations in Northeast Nigeria. The role focuses on delivering quality case management services, strengthening community based protection mechanisms, supervising field level protection activities, and ensuring adherence to inter agency protection standards.
The Senior Protection Officer will support vulnerable children, adolescents, women, and at risk households affected by conflict. This includes coordinating Child Help Desks, supporting psychosocial interventions, training protection staff, collaborating with stakeholders, monitoring programme progress, and ensuring compliance with donor and organizational requirements.
This role requires strong technical capacity in child protection, leadership experience, and the ability to operate effectively in humanitarian and conflict contexts.
Responsibilities
- Lead implementation of child protection and GBV activities across project sites.
- Ensure dignified, inclusive, and equitable services for conflict-affected children and vulnerable groups.
- Oversee holistic case management services, including assessment, planning, referrals, and follow-up.
- Ensure application of inter-agency protection guidelines and global standards.
- Identify capacity gaps and deliver training for case workers and protection staff.
- Map, update, and maintain service provider directories for effective referrals.
- Ensure adherence to donor regulations, organizational policies, and data protection standards.
- Work closely with MEAL teams to ensure accurate and timely beneficiary data capture.
- Supervise Child Help Desk operations ensuring timely response to protection concerns.
- Provide technical guidance on case documentation, information management, and safe data handling.
- Support delivery of life skills sessions, PSS activities, and positive parenting programmes.
- Provide technical support on CPIMS+ Primero, ensuring data quality and correct usage.
- Remain available remotely for urgent case-related consultations and guidance.
- Produce and submit monthly progress reports to the Child Protection Programme Manager.
- Represent Street Child in CP, GBV, DWG, and sector coordination meetings.
- Identify service gaps and advocate for solutions for UASC, GBV survivors, CAAFAG, and other vulnerable groups.
- Conduct regular supervision and follow-up of case workers and partner protection staff.
- Collaborate with partners to prepare accurate and timely protection reports.
- Support rapid humanitarian response activities during emergencies.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Child Protection Programme Manager.
Requirements
- Experience using CPIMS+/Primero and working with inter agency protection standards is a strong advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate field teams and manage multiple activities.
- Additional professional training or certification in social work, child protection, or GBV is an added advantage.
- Experience working in Northeast Nigeria or other conflict affected settings is preferred.
