Tope Adebayo LP is seeking an experienced Energy & Natural Resources Associate to provide high level legal advisory services across the Oil & Gas, Power, and Mining sectors. The successful candidate will offer strategic, regulatory, and transactional legal support to clients, ensuring timely, accurate, and commercially sound legal solutions in a fast-paced professional environment. The Energy & Natural Resources Associate will carry a highly specialised portfolio of responsibilities, providing regulatory, transactional, and strategic legal advisory services across the oil & gas, power, and mining sectors. The role requires deep sector expertise, excellent drafting skills, and the ability to manage complex legal matters independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality legal advice on energy and natural resources laws, policies, and regulations
• Advise on asset acquisitions, disposals, strategic alliances, and corporate transactions
• Draft, negotiate, and review major commercial, project, and finance agreements
• Advise clients on legal and business risks associated with proposed transactions
• Support clients in regulatory engagements and compliance with relevant authorities
• Procure regulatory approvals, licences, and permits for energy and finance transactions
• Conduct and conclude contractual negotiations on behalf of clients
• Prepare clear and timely responses to client instructions and inquiries
• Support thought leadership initiatives to enhance the firm’s market presence

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years post call experience with strong academic credentials
• Solid knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework for the oil & gas and power sectors
• Experience handling regulatory and transactional matters in the energy sector
• Knowledge of project finance transactions in the energy sector (added advantage)
• Proven experience advising on regulatory approvals, licences, and permits
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and problem solving skills
• Strong commercial awareness and client focused mindset
• Ability to manage pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain high professional standards
• Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
