Job Description
Wadata Relief Care Initiative (WRCI) is seeking a dedicated Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Officer to support the implementation of the Hedayah STRIVE Global Programme in Bakori LGA, Katsina State. The ideal candidate will provide psychosocial support services, lead community based MHPSS activities, ensure trauma informed program delivery, and contribute to preventing and countering violent extremism (P/CVE) interventions. - Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group psychosocial support to beneficiaries in line with global MHPSS standards.
- Conduct community based MHPSS activities, including awareness sessions, referrals, and follow-ups.
- Implement trauma informed care approaches aligned with P/CVE principles under the STRIVE Global Programme.
- Support the development of case management plans and maintain accurate, confidential documentation.
- Coordinate with community leaders, stakeholders, and partner organizations to strengthen MHPSS service delivery.
- Identify protection concerns and escalate cases requiring specialized intervention.
- Facilitate capacity building sessions for staff, volunteers, and community actors on MHPSS concepts.
- Prepare regular reports, assessments, and updates on project progress.
- Ensure all activities comply with WRCI, donor, and international humanitarian standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in MHPSS programming within humanitarian or development sectors.
- Strong understanding of trauma informed care, mental health principles, and P/CVE frameworks.
- Experience in community engagement and delivering psychosocial support interventions.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with professionalism.
- Strong communication skills in English and Hausa.
- Excellent reporting, case documentation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with vulnerable populations and diverse stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel within project communities when required.
