Job Description

500 Global is seeking an experienced and strategic Deputy Director – Sustainable Growth, Africa to provide leadership in global capital engagement and institutional partnership development across the African region. Reporting to the Director of Sustainable Growth, the role will lead capital engagement strategies, manage senior institutional relationships, and represent the organization across global development and finance ecosystems. The ideal candidate will bring deep Africa expertise, strong stakeholder networks, and a proven track record in sustainable finance, development, and impact driven partnerships.

Responsibilities

• Lead global capital engagement strategies for Africa focused initiatives.
• Serve as the primary relationship manager for institutional partners and senior stakeholders.
• Drive partnership development across climate, gender equity, health, and economic opportunity sectors.
• Represent the organization in global development, finance, and impact investing forums.
• Design and execute strategic initiatives that translate partnerships into measurable outcomes.
• Provide strategic advisory support on sustainable growth initiatives across Africa.
• Engage governments, private sector actors, DFIs, multilaterals, and philanthropies.
• Strengthen institutional collaborations aligned with ESG and blended finance frameworks.
• Support cross regional coordination and knowledge sharing on Africa focused programmes.

Requirements

• At least 10 years’ experience in capital partnerships, sustainable finance, or global development.
• Strong background working with DFIs, multilaterals, or impact-investing platforms.
• Deep experience working across African countries with diverse stakeholders.
• Proven success in building and managing high level institutional partnerships.
• Demonstrated ability to design and execute strategic, outcome driven initiatives.
• Strong understanding of catalytic finance, blended capital models, and ESG frameworks.
• Sectoral expertise in areas such as health, climate, agriculture/food security, and technology/innovation (AI, DPI).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
