Job Description
Malteser International is seeking an experienced and strategic Country Program Coordinator to provide overall leadership for programme design, resource mobilisation, donor engagement, and high-quality project implementation in Nigeria. Based in Maiduguri with frequent travel to field locations including Abuja, the role requires a senior humanitarian professional who can ensure compliance with grant agreements, uphold international humanitarian standards, and drive effective programme delivery in a complex operating environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for programme design, planning, and resource mobilisation.
- Lead high quality project design, MEAL systems development, and programme evaluations.
- Ensure effective data collection, analysis, accountability, and organisational learning.
- Oversee programme implementation and ensure compliance with donor requirements and grant agreements.
- Strengthen team capacity, performance management, and staff development.
- Manage programme budgets, resources, and operational planning.
- Coordinate with government agencies, donors, partners, and humanitarian actors.
- Ensure compliance with international humanitarian standards and principles.
- Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor programme progress, assess impact, and manage programme risks.
- Lead external engagement, partnerships, and representation in coordination forums.
- Provide technical guidance and strategic support to programme teams.
- Ensure effective internal communication and information sharing across projects.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Human Rights, Development Studies, NGO Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in senior management and/or development or humanitarian programming.
- Strong expertise in programme management, project design, MEAL systems, and evaluations.
- Proven leadership, strategic thinking, and problem solving abilities.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to work in fast paced, complex, and evolving humanitarian contexts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and programme management tools/software.
