Junior Applied AI Engineer

Job Description

📍Arlington, VA (Remote possible)

Join Redhorse’s CTO team to build AI prototypes and full-stack demo applications for government missions. You’ll move fast, explore open-ended problems, and apply modern AI tools to real-world solutions. This role is ideal for self-directed engineers passionate about applied AI and full-stack development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and ship AI prototypes using modern models and tools.
  • Develop full-stack demo applications (from scratch or extending existing work).
  • Explore new technologies and translate research into actionable recommendations.
  •  Support customer-facing demos and internal AI education.
  •  Collaborate across teams to implement AI effectively.

Required Experience:

  •  US Security Clearance eligibility.
  •  Programming: Python and modern JavaScript/TypeScript (React or Next.js a plus).
  •  Experience with AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code, Factory AI).
  •  Familiarity with at least one LLM API.
  •  Git proficiency and deployment experience (cloud, Vercel, etc.).
  •  Full-stack capability or strong aptitude to learn quickly.

Desired (Optional) Experience:

  •  Public speaking/writing about technology.
  •  Exposure to federal government or DoD.
  •  Running or fine-tuning local LLMs.
  •  Residency in DC–VA–MD area.
  •  Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
