Launch your nursing career with Alberta Health Services through the Graduate Nurse Transition Pilot Program (GNTPP). This 12-month structured program supports new graduates to grow confidently with guidance from experienced Clinical Guides (RNs). You will transition from enhanced orientation to independent practice with ongoing mentorship.

Program Phases:

  •  Phase 1 – Enhanced Orientation: Supernumerary, paired with a Clinical Guide, personalized learning plan.
  •  Phase 2 – Independent Practice with Support: Transition to independent practice while having access to a mentor throughout the remaining program.

Responsibilities:

  •  Provide safe, quality, patient- and family-centered care.
  • Utilize nursing processes with critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making.
  • Teach, counsel, and advocate for patients and families.
  • Support an integrated, holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance.
  •  Reflect organizational vision and values in all nursing practice.

Salary:

  • Provisional Permit holders: $39.58 – $54.16/hour
  •  Full license: $43.26 – $59.21/hour

Shift Details:

  •  Length: 7.75 hours per shift
  •  Pattern: Days, Evenings, Weekends (57 shifts per 12-week cycle)

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited nursing program
  • Active or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
  •  Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification
  •  Eligible for GNTPP: Graduated within 12 months and not yet in a regular AHS/Covenant Health/Recovery Alberta position
  •  Ability to meet “heavy physical demand” requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  •  Experience in nephrology, transplant, or comparable unit
  •  Charge nurse experience
